Public Speaking

When I think about public speaking I think about the time I was speaking in London at a conference attended by some of my health visitor colleagues and some bigwigs in the field of infant mental health and postnatal depression. I loved it - it brought out the diva in me and I got a real buzz from performing once I realised that I wasn’t going to fall over climbing the stairs onto the stage. It was also knowing that what I was saying was important and the message needed to be heard.

Now I find myself in that place again, having a message that needs to be heard and having the passion to deliver it. My message is simply that caring for our emotional health is crucial to leading a healthy and fulfilled life and when our physical or mental health is compromised in any way our emotional wellbeing is put at risk. I am looking for opportunities to speak to women’s groups and health professionals involved in the care of breast cancer patients and women who have experienced postnatal depression, miscarriage, involuntary childlessness particularly in the Cheshire and North Wales area.

I talk about my own journey to where I am today, the journey I’m still on and will always be on and share some of my learning from that journey. I talk about why I want to do the work I do and why it is important to focus on the emotional health and wellbeing of individuals whether they are breast cancer survivors or have experienced postnatal depression or other life changing conditions.

In my public speaking I want to share with my listeners the principles by which I try and lead my life now and the tools that support it. These are the principles and tools which will form the heart of my book “A Soul’s Journey,” tried and tested by me
